Browns Dig Deep: Inside the New $2.6 Billion Brook Park Dome Stadium
The Cleveland Browns have officially started building a massive new $2.6 billion domed stadium in Brook Park, Ohio, located right next to the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. This massive project is named the New Huntington Bank Field. It is one of the biggest economic projects in the history of Northeast Ohio. The new home for the NFL team will completely change how fans watch football in the region.
A New Location and Unique Design
The Browns are moving away from their current open-air stadium in downtown Cleveland. Their new home sits on a 176-acre site that used to be a Ford Motor Company car plant. Crews began moving tons of dirt in early 2026 to dig a giant hole for the stadium. Because the site is right next to a busy airport, the team had to follow strict rules from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
To keep the building from being too tall for airplanes, the playing field will actually sit 80 feet below ground level. Instead of walking up long ramps to get to their seats, fans will walk down into the stadium bowl. The roof will be see-through and shaped like an old factory. This unique shape honors the history of the old Ford plant.
Incredible Features for Fans
The new dome will hold 67,500 screaming football fans. Designers plan to make it the most fan-friendly stadium in the whole country. The seats inside the stadium will be closer to the playing field than any other stadium in the NFL. The stadium will also feature a modern version of the famous «Dawg Pound» cheering section.
Because the stadium has a roof, fans will no longer have to freeze in the cold winter snow or get soaked by heavy rain. The enclosed dome also means Ohio can host massive, year-round events. The stadium will be able to hold up to 75,000 people for major concerts, the college basketball Final Four, and international soccer matches.
More Than Just Football
This project is much larger than just a sports arena. The area surrounding the stadium will become a brand-new neighborhood and entertainment district. The plans include:
- Two large hotels with 452 rooms for visitors.
- 576 new apartments for people to live near the action.
- A 40,000-square-foot music venue for live concerts.
- Tons of retail shops and restaurants for year-round shopping and dining.
Fixing the Roads for Traffic
Bringing tens of thousands of football fans right next to an airport could cause huge traffic problems. To fix this, local leaders are planning major road upgrades starting in 2027. The state and local governments are working together to fund these projects.
The construction https://sam-pugliese.com/ crews will widen and fix busy local streets like Snow Road, Engle Road, and Five Points Road. They will also build new, safer exit ramps on Interstate 71. A large pedestrian bridge will be built over Engle Road so fans can safely walk to the games without blocking cars.
The Cleveland Browns plan to finish the entire project in time for the 2029 NFL season. When it opens, it will provide a world-class experience for the community for decades to come.
